ABOUT

What I can do for you

  • I offer 1:1 tuition for A -level chemistry with AQA

  • I am a current practising teacher, working as Assistant Curriculum Leader, in charge of the chemistry curriculum in one of England's largest sixth form colleges.

  • Tuition comes complete with one-note files with professionally curated resources, integrating information and carefully chosen relevant exam questions at every opportunity.

  • I utilise proven techniques and up-to-date research to ensure that all my students get the most out of their learning time, both during tuition,  and in their independent study time.  I want students to leave my sessions with a level of mastery of the content covered, and also knowledge of the best techniques to support their own learning.

  • I have extensive experience from my current and past years of secondary school teaching of helping students to achieve the grades they need to get into top universities.

  •  I also have extensive experience of helping students to achieve the grades they need to avoid having to retake subjects the following year, when they want to be focusing instead on their chosen career path.

  • The techniques that I employ have been shown to work regardless of the presence of any special educational needs, but the great thing about individual tuition is that it will always be adapted to the individual!

  • The Educational Endowment Foundation (EEF) looked at 123 research studies on the effectiveness of private tuition and found that, on average, students made about 5 additional months progress with individual tuition than without, and that this progress was best when the tutor was a qualified teacher. The research is summed up by this lovely quote:

"The approach allows the teacher or tutor to focus exclusively on the needs of the learner and provide teaching that is closely matched to each pupil’s understanding. One to one tuition offers greater levels of interaction and feedback compared to whole class teaching which can support pupils to spend more time on new or unfamiliar, overcome barriers to learning and increase their progress through the curriculum."
